Dateline: June 6, 2011 … Remember the “olden days” when a burglar jimmied your lock or entered through an open window? Increasingly, home invaders travel in packs to crash a home.
A story posted yesterday in Chico, California, describes the entry of “several masked men” who invaded a home in the early morning, woke up the homeowner and her young son, tied them up, and stole items from the home.
A similar incident occurred the same day in Atlanta. Again, four or five males armed with guns entered the home, held a husband and wife at gun point, and ransacked the house. Two children were present at the time.
More commonly, two accomplices team up to execute the invasion. In this example from South New Jersey, two men worked together. One tried to get the homeowners to open the front door by posing as a pizza delivery person, while the other attempted to get through a sliding glass door before one of the victims slammed it shut.
